Ripping Youtube Videos to MP3

When you found a good song from Youtube, you just gotta download it. But your just too lazy to use an online converter or download the video and convert it manually using a software.

  1. Download youtube-dl. Also, ffprobe and ffmpeg dependencies put it in the same folder.

  2. Use this command in command prompt or shell of your choice

    youtube-dl.exe --extract-audio --output "%(title)s.%(ext)s" --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0 INSERT_URL

  3. Replace INSERT_URL with Youtube video URL, eg.

youtube-dl.exe --extract-audio --output "%(title)s.%(ext)s" --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0

It will download the video and convert it to MP3 with the highest quality.

Batch downloading

It has come to a point where copy and pasting each links after every download is becoming a tiring process. Somehow I need to download a Spotify playlist but as a free user, I couldn't do it.

This batch download command using youtube-dl is working perfectly and as expected:

youtube-dl --extract-audio --output "%(title)s.%(ext)s" --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0 -ci --batch-file=batch.txt

Create a new file called batch.txt and paste a list of URLs in there (separated by a new line) and run above command.

Automate all of this using Youtube To Mp3 Ripper.

Note: only single video download is available for this release (v0.1)
